2013 Report of Iran human rights Special Rapporteur Ahmed Shaheed to the UN Human Rights Council – In his concluding remarks, on page 23, Dr. Shaheed explicitly calls for the immediate release of the seven Baha’i leaders.

2013 Report of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to the UN Human Rights Council – In this report, starting on page 8, Mr. Ban devotes three paragraphs to the situation of the Baha’i community in Iran, noting the imprisonment of more than 100 Baha’is “because of their religious beliefs” and the “on-going anti-Baha’i media campaign” that has “resulted in increasing attacks” on Baha’is and their properties.

2010 Opinion on Iran of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention – In this document, excerpted here to show its opinion on Iran, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention discusses the rights of the seven imprisoned Baha’i leaders. Among other things, the Working Group concludes that their incarceration “constitutes a violation” of their right to freedom of religion or belief as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
