Thirty-two Baha'is were condemned to death in Iran due to their religious belief. The Baha'i International Community sought the assistance of the UN Special Rapporteur on Summary or Arbitrary Executions. Eight of the thirty-two were subsequently executed in Tehran, but the lives of the other twenty-four were saved.
