Africa and Europe interfaith gathering on food insecurity

Africa and Europe interfaith gathering on food insecurity

Brussels—8 July 2020

A number of faith actors and representatives from both Africa and Europe came together in an interfaith and intercontinental discussion on 8 July 2020. The online meeting was organized by the Baha’i International Community Brussels Office, CARITAS Europa, CEC, COMECE and Islamic Relief International, as well as their counterparts in Africa.

The aim of this meeting was to create a space for an exploratory conversation between the two continents around the issue of food insecurity. Participants tried to tap into the conceptual thinking and practical experience drawn from religious insights, in order to identify key challenges and map out the possible ways forward.

The meeting concluded with a desire to continue the conversation with the attendance of policymakers from both the EU and Africa before the approaching EU-Africa Summit in October 2020.
