BIC Addis Ababa and Brussels Offices send letter to African and European Commission's meeting

Brussels—28 November 2022

The Addis Ababa and Brussels Offices of the Baha’i International Community (BIC) addressed a letter to this year’s African Union (AU) and European Union (EU) 11th annual Commissions’ meeting held in Brussels. The meeting was jointly chaired by Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat and President Ursula von der Leyen and Commissioners from both continents took part in the meeting. Topics discussed during the meeting included connectivity, migration, health, education, food systems, climate change, humanitarian action, peace and security, among others.

The BIC’s letter addressed the framework of engagement between the two continents. One example of how this framework can evolve, according to the letter, was the value of building a common vision through the creation of mechanisms for engagement between policy makers and local communities across both continents

Earlier this year, both offices issued a statement on the occasion of the 6th African Union - European Union Summit.
