BIC addresses African and European parliamentarians ahead of first-ever Africa-EU Parliamentary Assembly
In light of the Youth Forum held during the first plenary session of the Africa-European Union (EU) Parliamentary Assembly, which took place in Eswatini from 12-14 May 2026, the Bahá’í International Community’s (BIC) Addis Ababa and Brussels offices addressed several considerations to both the African and EU delegations.
Over 150 parliamentarians from both continents gathered for this inaugural session, deliberating on some of the world’s most significant global and regional challenges, as well as shaping joint recommendations on the Africa-Europe Partnership.
A joint letter, signed by the two BIC offices accompanying the recommendations, stated, “Ultimately, the success of our shared intercontinental goals depends on joint Africa-Europe strategies being actively shaped by the agency and aspirations of the generation that will inherit and sustain this partnership. It is our hope that these considerations contribute to a dialogue that promotes enduring models of cooperation and collective responsibility”.
The recommendations elaborate on points related to young people’s agency, their capacity for constructive change, and their role as protagonists in development and decision-making.
The considerations from the BIC's Addis Ababa Office are available here, and from the Brussels Office here.
