New York—18 July 2013

The 12th informal breakfast dialogue, co-convened by the Baha'i International Community and International Movement ATD Fourth World, focused on the rights of children in the post-2015 development agenda. Opening remarks were given by Richard Morgan, Senior Advisor of the Executive Office of UNICEF, and Sofia Garcia, Advocacy Advisor for SOS Children’s Villages International. The discussion brought together Member State representatives, as well as representatives from UN agencies and civil society organizations. Participants stressed the centrality of children's well-being to sustainable development, the vulnerability of children, as well as the importance of allocating resources to ensure their health and development. The discussion highlighted the importance of considering the perspectives of children in the formulation of a people-centered development agenda, while recognizing the relevant structural limitations of the present system. Echoing comments from previous breakfast dialogues, attendees discussed the need for clear, concise and comprehensive targets and goals. (Informal Notes)
