In fourth breakfast dialogue, UN, Member States and civil society focus on poverty
The fourth in an ongoing series of informal breakfast dialogues, organized by the Baha'i International Community and the International Movement ATD Fourth World, focused on poverty. Opening remarks were given by H.E. Mr. Manjeev Singh Puri, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, and Danny Burns from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. Among other things, participants focused on the need for a development agenda that addresses the complexities inherent in the experiences of those living in poverty, that provides a collaborative framework while affording countries the space to proceed in their own way, and that builds on the lessons learned in the course of formulating and pursuing the MDGs.
