Member States Reach Agreed Conclusions on Violence Against Women

57th Session of the Commission for Social Development
New York—11 April 2013

Alongside NGOs from around the world, the Baha'i International Community advocated for a positive outcome for the 57th Commission on the Status of Women, the priority theme for which was preventing and eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls.  Following late nights of negotiations, on 15 March 2013, Member States reached a set of Agreed Conclusions, which unequivocally condemn the pervasive violence against women and girls and call for accelerated action for prevention and response. We look forward to next year's 58th Session of the Commission, which will address the “challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls.”
